During the 3 days i was there, we went 2 museums. So i think you'll know what to expect. Lolz...

I was quite surprise i was allowed to take photos in both of the Museum i have visited. Come to think of it, i realised it was a very long time ago since i last visited a museum. It was Muzium Negara i guess? Haha...

Pentair Water Kansas City

We were there for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of 2 nos of 4 stages vertical turbine seawater pump. These pumps eventually will form part of the fire fighting system of the jetty that my company are constructing now.

On the left is the pump while on the right is the test pit that the pump has been fixed on.

The tests were done and the results were acceptable. Hence, the pumps were ready for assembling and shipment to Malaysia by air freight.

In the middle was John, the Hydraulic Analyst. He got 30 over years of experience. Survived through 4 different ownerships in the same company.

Myself, Azizat, Chris, and Richard. Chris was the guy who coordinate our FAT. He is a Professional Engineer and also the International Application Engineering Manager of Pentair Water, brilliant guy.

Kansas City is a city which occupies two different states, namely Missouri and Kansas. The Kansas and Missouri river separate the city into Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri.

Kansas City also has a nickname called the City of Fountains. I don't even bother to take any more photos on fountains after a few shots.

The weather of Kansas City during my stay there was nice. There is no snow whatsoever though the locals said they have had one of the highest snow depth last year. I thought i could have observe snow for the first time in my life.

My Desire HD main screen

The flights arranged by company actually require me to board a few connecting flights.

Departure to Kansas City from Singapore, via Tokyo and then San Francisco.

I arrived at Changi Airport two minutes before the check-in counter closed and was lectured by the counter lady. Lolz... Luckily i still made it!

Hence, i need four different clocks to advise me on the time of my connecting flights. I certainly don't want to miss any of them. Lessons learned.

Getting Insured

Today i met up with a friend whom is an insurance agent. I was to get to know the insurance policies that are offered by the insurance company.

Well, it turned out quite fruitful and efficient. I called my brother and sister immediately after i was done talking to my friend. They very willingly accepted my proposal to get both my parents insured. We agreed to share the premiums and also the beneficiaries, which are the three of us as well obviously.

First payment is made and the forms are signed after my friend and myself explained to my parents the benefits of getting insured. My parents doubted the necessity of the policies but i believe it is a right choice.

At least today i have achieved a big step in ensuring part of the future of both my parents and among my siblings are taken care of. Medical bills can be quite a bitch!

Amid this CNY mood that are fading as i will be heading back to work soon, i wish everybody a Happy Chinese New Year! ^.^

Japan Visa

There's no interview like the US Visa.

However you need a saving account, or fixed deposit, etc showing a figure more than RM 10k.

You would also need your company certification letter indicating your position, length of service, salary etc, and some other documents to prove your are earning a healthy income and you are not actually going there to steal jobs. Haha..

Also, unless you are travelling to Japan for work purposes, you would probably need to prepare a letter stating your purpose of visit and guarantee of expenses.

Not forgetting a confirmed flight itinerary as well. Meaning to say you can't submit your Visa application unless you have bought your air ticket. Lolz...

Preview of 2012

Hi Everybody! I know it's a little bit late but i will assure you the following stories will not be a waste of time. :)

People usually talks about what happened last year when they stepped into new year i.e. best bits of 2011. However i'm going to skip that and do the opposite. Here's the preview of the year 2012 for me.

1. Moving back to Singapore

Yes. I will be back to Singapore for my third project in Keppel Tuas Shipyard early February. It's a very challenging project and i am quite delighted that i will be a part of it. I've been learning and it's been tough for me thus far. My new year resolution for work is that i must be humble and be willing to take advice.

2. Going to the US

I have had quite an unusual experience obtaining the US Visa. In short, i will be at Kansas City for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for my current project. Out of the 6 days, 2.5 days i will be in planes or airports. 1 day for FAT and 1.5 days free and easy. All are with co-workers of course. It is my first time there and it is work related but it certainly won't be the last since i'm having a 10 years multiple entry Visa. ^.^

3. Going to Japan

My Japan Visa is currently being processed. Like the US one but slightly easier, without interview, and it is free of charge as well. This trip however is not work related. I am going there alone for 7 days. I have a friend there who may able to bring me around. Well... going there anyway with or without anyone. Flights are confirmed.

4. Buying a house

It is a new condominium located in Subang Jaya expected to complete end of 2014. Down-payment paid, loan approved, and going to sign S&P soon. The entire process is more tedious than i thought it would be. This house most probably is not for own stay. Maybe will sell maybe will rent out. Will see...

5. Just bought a 10-24mm Nikkor DX lens

I bought it for a week but yet to explore its greatness. This lens is a must considering the events that are going to happen this year. Not to mention the oversea trips i'm going to have, i actually have few friends going to tie the knot this year. Do expect some wedding related photos coming up later this year in my Facebook profile, or maybe here blogger. I think i will get a flash soon for proper wedding shoots. :P

6. Considering taking MBA

It is close to 2 years since i graduated from USM. The working life is not exactly broadening my perspective for life. I have not seen enough and i am hunger for more unique experiences. This is still at a very beginning stage, still not sure where to pursue MBA. Most probably i will take it full time and hence money is another issue i need to consider seriously.

Honda CR-Z

Early this month was the launching of Honda CR-Z. Honda claimed it is the world first sporty hybrid.

It is special because it is a coupe, and that means 2 doors and most probably 2 seater. The car is awesome but when you realized that you can only share with one person at a time, it is kind of "owh... that's too bad."

Look at the interior! Breathtaking!

Well the back seats are either for hobbits or kids. Maybe for people with no legs too. How considerate. (Zzzz... It's a coupe lah... Don't you understand?)

Engine integrated with electric motor, IMA(Integrated Motor Assist). It is called so because the engine is always working. When you accelerates the electric motor assist, and when you decelerates it charges the battery. Less fuel for more power. An unique type of "hybrid". Since it bears the name "hybrid", it only sells at RM 115k in Malaysia.

Currently we only have 6 speeds manual in Malaysia, CVT comes later. With 6 speeds you do feel quite sporty, but you would a bit upset when you realized the 0-100km/h is 10 seconds. (Yes! You probably able to outrace CR-Z with a Gen-2.)

Jason Barlow said it is a different kind of car, for a different kind of road trip. It is a coupe so forget about the back seats.

Creating Great Memories

After watching 'You are the Apple of My Eye', can't help but recalled all the memories during my school days. They were so nostalgic and beautiful!

I realized that the beauty of life is life itself. You have to live in it and create great memories. Do awesome things! Do beautiful things! What kind of things is awesome and beautiful? Well you got to figure it out yourself.

One day i'm going to dump my job and become a person i truly wanna become. Perhaps will go to a foreign land, if possible maybe i will get some odd jobs. Stay there for as long as possible, meet new people, and start creating great memories!

Does it sounds childish? Maybe... but what's so great about being a mature, predictable, dull person? I think i have done that enough. Should try to become silly and immature aka childish.

If we could possibly choose to stop growing up, would you want to?

US Visa

"Your Visa is approved. This is the collection card to pick up your passport at your selected distribution office. Enjoy your trip to the US."

"So it's done?"
"Yeah."

The interview took me less than 2 minutes (maybe because i have the invitation letter from the US manufacturer) but the queue took me 2 hours!

The application itself is a lengthy and tedious process. Pay up the application fees at Standard Charted Bank, filling up the online application form, schedule the interview, get ready the US Visa format photos, attend the interview at the US embassy, and finally collect the Visa.

And here it is!

I was never informed of the validity of the Visa but i was granted 10 years! I thought it would be like perhaps a month? That is so cool!

This is not about Steve Jobs

The passing of Steve Jobs was a phenomenon although some people have deemed his contribution was overrated. There were other people with much greater inventions but never seemed to be appreciated as much as Steve Jobs does. He was good in earning our money and yet everybody respect him.

I do like one of its quotes though, which states;

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

Live your everyday like it is the last day of your life. Do what you think that even if today was the last day you would ever live in this world and you would still do whatever you have planned to do today.

I realized i have failed in this respect. I still doing the same freaking thing i do everyday which wasn't really where my passion truly lies. Is it because i don't get to choose? Or just simply because i was afraid? Sometimes i think i have lost my direction in life. I was so tuned to work to the degree where i think i have forgotten my passion for other things in life. I don't feel the desire to do other things that much anymore. In fact, i don't know what i wanted to do exactly. I think i am losing it.

Where is my courage? I thought i was brave.

An August not to forget

The month of August 2011 is going to end in about 40 minutes time. Hope that i can finish this post before September come.

August was a happening month. I moved to Pasir Gudang at 10th of August. A day after i enjoyed a day off at 9th of August, National Day of Singapore. Settling down at this very industrialised town is okay. The first few days was awful. No transport, no internet, etc...

Things get better after that, company given me one old, rusted Iswara but who cares, as long as its wheels are rolling. Few days after that i registered Celcom broadband 3.5mbps speed with 6GB for monthly usage. Pretty smooth and hustle free. Nice. I can claim from the company as well because it is for work purposes too.

Ever since i came to Pasir Gudang, i went back to Singapore every weekends. Partly due to there is no entertainment around Pasir Gudang. Plus the fact that i'm not really familiar with Johor roads, is better to go back to some where i can take public transports to wherever i want to go and meet my friends.

This month is also special because LGM came down to NTU for the final round of FYSK-17. Although we didn't win but it was fun and it was great to be able to meet them and listen to them playing again.

This month going to end really nicely. With the last few days of the month being holidays, and the fact that i enjoyed off days and celebrated the National Day for both Singapore and Malaysia together at this month makes it even special.

LitleGras life is always the best! Wish this could last forever and ever.

Well... more than a month has gone since i back to the main office. I can totally feel i am a site people. Being limited to work around walls does not feel great at all. It stresses me out for nothing.

Anyway, i know i am gonna off to Pasir Gudang very soon. The project has to kick off eventually. It is a very tight-scheduled one though. Feel so tension being given such a responsibility. Although i know this is my chance to shine and get noticed. Only if i managed to complete the project in time of course.

Just in case you didn't see me in the next CNY, i might be still working, struggling to get things done. It so happens that the handover date is a day before the first day of CNY! Why if the project couldn't finish in time?

After a year working in Singapore, i will be backed to Malaysia again. Not for good but at least for 6 months, which is the period of the new project i am going to involve in.

The site is located in Pasir Gudang, not sure how is it though, never been there. Judging from my current scope of work, i can say i have move forward in my career. I have been learning new things on a on-going basis. It is quite satisfying, knowing i am on the right track.

However, sometimes, i still miss my life being a student, or rather i should say the life when i indulged myself in the sea of music, playing in a band, drumming. Such a great life it is.

I am thinking whether i should stop working for a year or two, then just join some band and play music. You know i can't really let go of the paycheck i am receiving every fortnightly, but then again what is the money for when you can't do something you want to do. For whom for what we want to be rich?

Having able to buy stuffs that you want, be it a car, a house, a branded watch or other any other expensive stuffs, does not really help in making you happy and contended for life. It is always a temporary effect, where you only enjoyed for a brief moment when your materialistic-ism being fulfilled. After the hormones disappeared, your happiness also vanished.

I need a reason for me to continue working on my career goals. Please give me one.

Today is May 17th! It is a public holiday in Singapore, Vesak Day. Well, today is also the day where i started working after completing my studies a year ago. A welcomed coincidence isn't it?

Generally i find myself love to work in marine environment. It offers some kind of thrill out of the routine boredom from time to time. What kind of thrill am i talking about? It is the thrill of unforeseen circumstances.

Myself about a year ago!

You know in construction line, schedule is of utmost importance. Basically a major determinant of whether a construction firm going to grasp a profit from a particular project. And for most of the construction projects on land, in my opinion, are quite predictable. However, it is not so in the marine construction.

Why do i said so? One of the factors that influence schedule are tidal change. The level of permanent structure is not going to change regardless of the tide. Therefore sometimes, for a particular work, there is only 3 to 4 workable hours in a day as the seawater level rises or falls. Hence, planning is an everyday job because tide levels are different in each and every hour everyday. Of course there are works that do not depend on tide levels, this is where the other hours in a day are used for.

Piling Barge

My company specializes in marine foundation works. Our works are highly dependent on machineries, as most of the machineries are huge. To name a few, piling barge, crane barge, material barge, jack-up barge, drilling machine, anchor boat et cetera. When there are so many plants and machineries around, breakdown of machineries is inevitable. This is the second factor that influence the schedule, in fact, a lot.

Many construction companies overlooked the importance of workers, thinking they could be replaced with another one anytime, causing their welfare poorly taken care of. Perhaps it is because they are afford to lose their workers, but it is not so in my company, workers are rather important. Due to the fact that we got so many kinds of machinery, we need operators/workers to operate them. Project managers or engineers are not going to operate them, hence workers and their respective supervisors know best. They are in fact real skillful personnel, an important assets to the company. Some of the operators and supervisors actually earning a salary higher than engineers, and maybe project manager too.

Tackling the unforeseen circumstances, analyses the problems, thinking of a solution, planning the works, are everyday chores. I was very helpless at first, but now i started to get the hang of it. Under the guidance of my manager and fellow colleagues, operators and even workers. I am feeling quite good doing my job everyday.

We all used to be a student. We have friends around us that we usually hangout together with. Whenever you feel bored or something you can instantly grab your phone and send a text message or just call them out for something.

As time goes by, we grow older and we graduated and started working. We have less time for each other because we need to cope with the work stress and physical tiredness resulted from our job. Perhaps we could see each other during the weekends, if we feel like wanted to.

And then another stage come in, now is the time to settle down, it is almost time to start a family. At this moment you will meet your friends less and less. Most of the time you will be hanging out with your another half, life partner. When both of your partner and you also working, it is only logical to spend time together during weekends.

How about friends? Yeah we still hangout some time, just not as often, way less often. Can't help but feel pathetic having to write this post. Feelings struck when i tried to get some friends for lunch and i couldn't find any. Sorry about that.

p/s: i will still going out to meet a friend later in the evening. The situation is not as bad as you think but, i just wanted to depict the feelings i have right now.

Stress out

You know some time i do think my PM treat me not bad. But somehow or rather i easily feel annoyed by whatever he asked me to do.

I mean for a boss to ask his man to work, give him a task, is perfectly normal. Sometimes we even heard about some unreasonable boss giving unreasonable workload plus bad treatment. Well, i don't really get this kind of treatment but i wonder why i got so fed up with everything he did. Even though it is just a very small issue.

I practically not afraid of him. Maybe don't have respect either. I don't know.

I threw my anger to him today, electronically. I mean, using email. Think i shouldn't have done that but i just can't resist myself.

Perhaps it is because no matter what kind of situations we are in, we still manage to find some bad stuff in it and complain. Just like in Singapore while everything looks pretty good already but you will still find lots of people complaining about stuffs, although it is much better than Malaysia already.

Perhaps we just won't get enough of everything we have had. We always want to be better, and in one way it make us suffer.

What is my problem?

I think most probably people who read my blog posts will probably realized that most of my posts revolves around my thoughts. Thoughts that are few could be able to understand, i guess.

At first i thought it is because i think too much, but after recently i thought to myself perhaps the problem could be also addressed as "obsessive". I realized i do obsess with a lot of things.

So is it being obsessive a problem? It sounds like it does. However, if you look at it positively, one could also say it is "passion", isn't it? When i obsess with playing drum i become good at it. But when it comes to relationships, i think obsessive could only lead to the bad side, negative.

It is simple and make sense. Who likes to be obsessed by somebody else? It sounds like a stalker or a sex maniac. "Mutual" is the word for relationships. Okay now the problem is, how to control my "passion" for it? How to make it "mutual", so to speak?

"Actually i do like you but not very intensely." Like that? Or act like i don't really care when i really do? Is that the way? With all these being said, am i really have to learn to distract my thoughts with other stuffs? When all i really want to do is to think about her? How could i ended up driven her away? I do feel when i don't care as much, my feelings for relationships around me is better. When i really care about it, i will feel i have not done enough, and i will put myself in a difficult situation, making myself feel bad when things did not happen the way i wanted it to be.

Now don't ask or try to guess who is the "her". There's is no specific her because the scenario mentioned above does not happened for one time only. I don't know whether this is the true problem or not, but yet i got no better explanation to all that have happened. Perhaps you could give me an answer for that matter.

Perhaps the moment when i am thinking and blogging about this, it is already a problem itself, because usually ordinary man would not have such a thinking in the first place. They are steady and cool with almost everything, exaggeratedly.

Is that a problem? What is my problem?

Work

Just a few months ago i was complaining on how my working life sucks. Anyway, things get better now.

I have not working for more than 5 Sundays consecutively.

I have not staying back until 10pm for more than 4 weeks.

My colleagues started to take leaves. From leaves that last for few days to 3 months. Even my PM is taking a week leave.

Company revised staffs' salary and i was one of them. It is pretty handsome too.

I think maybe the previous complaints of mine are heard. Perhaps this is just temporary but i really hope it is not. Once in a while if required to work until 10pm or mid night if there's casting that is alright. But please don't make me stay because i need to standby for don't know what the hell unexpected circumstances or situation that most probably wouldn't happen.

Alright i know it sound harsh. They may consider but at the end of the day. Their own feelings are the most important things. They will take care of their own feelings even though it includes hurting you.

So you must stand up and protect your own! Why let them ruining your days? We wake up in the morning every single day thinking about life. We want a good one of course. So then we must take care of our own feelings.

If making other feels good and you feel goods too then that's win-win. If you being nice and your are hurt instead. What for being nice?

If hurting them makes you feel good, go ahead and screw them!!

The Fear!

I am scare! I can't calm myself down. I'm like watching an endless scary ghost movie.

I have discovered things that i shouldn't know. These things are so dramatic that it is unbelievable. And i have yet to discover all, which makes it even more scary! I don't know what is the truth exactly. The truth, however, is kind of predictable, but i am too scare to accept it being a truth.

I don't know what i should do. My heart pumping fast when i think of it. I feel a deep sense of fear. Fear that i have never felt before in my entire life. It keeps coming. I'm drowning inside it.

There are only so much i can tell. This is because as in somehow a silence promise has been made when i talked to the story teller. The story teller did not really ask or threaten me to keep it as secret, but i just know that i could not tell.

The story teller is like no other story tellers. She just present the tip of the ice berg for you. She then without doing anything, capable of manipulate your thoughts to discover more things. She will only tell when you ask. I have thought of not asking but i could not let go of the truth. I wonder why i want to know a truth that will scare the hell out of me?!

I feel sick. I feel nausea. I feel hot and suddenly i feel cold. Am i really sick or a ghost has got on me?

Pre-Holiday shoutout!

Well... Holiday officially started! I'm still in Singapore though. Bus depart tonight at 9pm.

You know i thought i was quite committed to my job already. Willing to work like no day or night for my company. I really thought i'm doing good enough. But as time passed by, apparently it wasn't enough. When you willing to commit more, the more they going to give. It will never stops.

My superior actually expects me to do more. I mean WTH? You want more? I'm a human you know. I need rest and i need time for my own activity. Wonder why the culture of my company is like that. Why there isn't anything about Work Life Balance? A company can't strive if it provides its employees more time at home? I don't feel i rewarded fairly. It makes me less motivated. I mean who is going to appreciate your efforts? Who sees it? What is the point of working damn f'ing hard?

I really love spending time listening to music, watching Youtube videos and stuffs. Be it a music videos, a cover, or a review or know-how. It makes my day pleasant. Song heals man!! Listen to Tyler Ward. He's Great!

Light bulb on my ceiling

I took my E pass yesterday, which is great! Not that because i want to become a Singapore PR but because i feel i deserve it. Actually it will not affect me very much but still it just feels better.

2010 will come to end about 24 hours later. Thought i should at least write something to end this year entries. So probably you will find reading this post direction-less.

One great thing for me is i will not be working during 1st and 2nd January. I gonna really have to think and plan carefully how am i going to spend these 2 days. My tripod has been hiding in its bag most of the time. Only brought it out twice for some try-outs. Nothing significant products yet. Think i will be doing something with my tripod this weekends.

My parents were having a hard time getting bus ticket for me. CNY tickets are being sold at an incredibly high price. Almost 3 times of normal selling price.

FYI i passed my BTT too. The next step is to go to Malaysia's JPJ and cut my Malaysia driving license, then go back to Singapore and convert my driving license. I will then free to drive on Singapore roads.

Gosh... I feel this post is damn pathetic and boring. That's all for today. By the way, Bleeding Love by New Heights is just awesome!!

I bought my first DSLR ever. The Nikon D7000. Currently eyeing at a decent tripod and portrait lens.

My company finally agree to apply E Pass for me after working for 7 months.

HTC Desire HD is finally available at Singtel. Once my E pass is approved i will be registering with Singtel to get the HTC.

One month to go before i receive my first ever bonus. Wonder how much would it be.

State of Mind

We live in a world where we are exposed to many situations. These situations will make you feel something, the thing which we called feeling.

This feeling will make you experience all the ups and downs in life, all the joy and tears, all the excitement and boredom, all the inferiority and superiority, and all the other more complicated ones. These are caused by some kind of chemical compounds released by our body. Due to these stuffs we enjoy or suffer from something.

We like feelings that are positive, that make you feel great. The problem is that we also have to deal with the negative ones. Like me i used to take too much time wandering in a negative state of mind. I thought to myself "how can my life be so bad? Why do i lost to others? Why after i tried so hard i still lose. Why?" That's all i was thinking about.

I used to try very hard to overcome these feelings. As i grow older i became more skillful. I realized all this are actually just a state of mind. It is actually manageable.

First thing is you must able to calm down and think about the situation from a further perspective. Don't let yourself drown in that situation. Imagine yourself actually standing very far away from the situation, so that you could suffer less impact. The further the better. Always ask yourself this question when you are down or when you think you are going to be down, "How bad could it be? It's nothing."

Just remember that you are being manipulated to feel this way. By whom? By God who created human. It is just an effect, a chemical reaction. Keep your mind clear. Believe in yourself that life will be so much better soon. At the same time strive for what you want to achieve in life and be patient.

I believe we can choose what we want to feel. It's our life, it's our body, it's our mind, and i believe we get to choose how we want it to be. Enjoy the positive ones and dilute the negative ones.

It is just a STATE OF MIND and you can control it!

Stuck for 15 minutes trying to figure out what to write. I don't want to write just for the sake of keeping my blog alive. Usually i write because i wanted to, that i have something in mind i wanted to share with whomever it is out there that are interested to read my blog.

Just some short updates before i proceed. I have been working for almost 5 months, another 9 days to go to be exact. What i learned? I learned that working life is just a game. A game that you are trying to win at the end of the day. The definition of 'win' being able to climb up to the top of the hierarchy. Constantly feeling you are on the way, and that you salary are constantly being revised, or that you are receiving extra rewards from time to time, and that are what will keep me motivated to work.

What if i able to do that? Should i give up my dream and just continue working? Work, work and work? Play the game of work? I scare i get too comfortable with what i'm going to receive. I want to be more than that yet i scare i will feel contented. But then again, so what i get all the physical things i wanted? Am i going to be happier? I don't know. What about family? What about life itself? Ahh... stop talking about this already. It won't change a thing for me right now. I know i'm just going to continue doing what i do now. Probably because i got nothing else to do already.

I guess i am kind of lost right now. Am i?

Some people say if they don't blog most probably is because their lives are going pretty well. That is why no complain, no unhappiness, and so nothing much to tell. For those who have problems, they wan to talk it out in order for them to feel better. I think i belong to the latter one. I'm just not the kind of people who will brag about their happiness. Maybe because i don't want others to feel like i am showing off. Or perhaps i should considering a change regardless of how others might think as long as i'm happy.

My comment? I think it carries Jay Chou feel which at first i think it is not so much of an authentic piece of music. However, it feels good and i feel like wanna listen to it again and again. This type of music is pretty much very simple but still you will find it awesome to listen to.

Many first timers or amateur song composers tend to overdo a song. They adding in lots of complicated stuffs but doesn't really mix well together. They thought by adding more elements it will become better but sadly it is not the case. If you really pay more attention to those nice listening songs out there, some of them really composed using very simple groove/riff. In this case, the PIANO, i think you can hear it playing the same thing over and over again right? But it just sound so nice! Give you other examples, Jay Chou's Secrets, 不能说的秘密, Dashboard Confessional's Stolen, Plain White T's Let me take you there, and so much more. Just pay attention to each individual instruments, listen to how the musics are played and you will know.

Another common mistake is a song is composed with many instruments trying to do a fill in the exact same part. All trying to grab attention from the audience and never let one take the lead. Take turns to do fill but not all together. Even if a fill is very nice but all instruments play a fill at the same part audience are going to be attracted to only one instrument, which is the most outstanding one and the rest will left unheard or, it will feel very messy mixing all the fill together.

Last night i went to Clark Quay for the first time. Well.. The environment is very nice and i love it so much. Lights are everywhere and stunningly lit. Hanging out there is definitely great although it was quite crowded i must say. Maybe crowded is the whole point because without the crowd there would not be any atmosphere at all.

Life here started to get boring. Less and less new things came up and things started to get very repetitive. I wonder whether it would be the same if i was in Malaysia instead of here at Singapore. Maybe worse at Malaysia i don't know. Living my life this way is really making me feel meaningless. If one doesn't have any goal or target working here i think probably he or she would find it very hard to carry on your life here especially if you are alone.

So how do you compensate yourself for all the hardship you endure? Buying stuffs is surely one the way. Grab home some new gadgets in shopping mall for you to play with. Spice up your super duper boring life a little bit. However, it kind of screw up your initial plan/goals of working here which primarily is to save money. Same goes to hanging out in places like pub or expensive restaurant. You get a wonderful experience but it cost you hell lots of money. Are these experiences worth the money?

To answer the question above one might need to consider what is he actually planning to do with the money you saved. As for me if you are only trying to save and so that when you go back your hometown you get to buy a house and car that is to me, so not worth it, especially if you were to sacrifice being with your loved ones and friends. At the end of the day you still need to work, and perhaps work even harder because you may find the experience you gained here irrelevant to your future work in your hometown. It is basically starting all over again except you have your house and car with you. Besides, are you willing to accept the wage that is cut down more than half? That is assuming you only consider about the exchange rate not to say the figure itself might get slash down.

So what is the right plan? I have plans of my own and i prefer to keep it to myself right now. Hopefully one day in the future i get to share how was i actually done it. Now the thing for me is i find it rather difficult to balance between the money saved and compensation for my working-my-ass-off life. How much should i spend and how much should i save? Working in my field is so unpleasant simply because the working environment itself is harsh, under the extreme sunlight and heat. Not to forget the dangerous working environment which is so notoriously known for hazards like falling from heights, hit by falling objects, machine crushing your body parts and so on. If the money isn't good i really don't want to work in this field anymore. If i'm in Malaysia, forget about being a civil engineer.

Another thing is, working as site engineer, you get to see only males, or perhaps 98% males. That is so cruel when you are trying to get a life partner and move on your life to the next stage. If you are not single before entering this field then you should thank God! Unless you are good with being alone for the rest of your life. For me, i started to think of a family rather than a simple boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. I think i have come to the stage where i hope the next girl i'm dating with is the one that i'm going to marry. My project manager who is already married always said to me, "Faster go get a girlfriend lo.." "If you still behave like it doesn't matter then before you realized you already an old man." "Make an effort now otherwise later when you old who is going to take care of you?" Things like that... I know it is funny but it is quite true.

I don't know how and i don't know when but i hope i can find my special one someday somehow. In the mean time, i will remind myself to stay focus on achieving my goals in life. Joy is obtain doing what you passionate about, and that is how life supposed to be.

It is amazing how things can change at such fast. For one moment you are not, and the next you are. This is how fast one could rise, and perhaps falls too. The internet open up all the possibilities. If you think you are good at something, go get a good video camera and start recording at yourself and upload it to the internet. Bamm!! You're famous!

Hogging on to the internet via social networking websites i.e. Facebook, reading blogs written by friends are how you keep yourself updated to one another these days. If there is anything you want to know, just remember to Google it. However some people believe in not-too-dependent on the internet and chose to rely on face to face communication. They afraid that this might become the only way people communicate in future.

Embrace the change i must say. Otherwise you definitely will lose out. Speed up the rate you obtain information. That is of real importance these days. When you are there mushrooming don't know what to do for a particular day, start by visiting Facebook. From there find anything that interest you and carry on from there. There's nothing bad about it really. Use the internet to achieve your dreams. That's what i thought.

However, one needs to know when you hanging out with friends but you keep checking out your cellphone is kind of irritating. I myself find it very turn-off to me if the girl i'm dating with were like that. I would rather go home sleeping than dating a girl like that. Just keep the device off for a second and spend time talking to your friends. If you're alone then the mini computer inside your pocket is definitely your best friend but not any other time.

Do you know Oxford Dictionary is on its way to stop producing the a-few-inches-thick book because no body is buying it in the US anymore? Plus it is no green cutting off trees to make books. Give it another decade books may become antique already. So start embracing the habit of reading the internet instead. Do it constantly, when you are alone, not with friends.

You know how people became old? Not through physical body fitness deterioration but the refusal to change and keep yourself relevant to the society. You know what? I know a guy who is around 80 years old and he got better computer skills than me. That's how i will define young.

My Sunday

Sunday is the only non-work day for me. First, i wake up and open my laptop(assuming i didn't fall asleep without shutting down my laptop the night before as i don't want to sleep early because it is the only night i get to sleep late without worrying about work the next day).

Then i open up my facebook checking out news feed. Try to identify who will be able to have lunch with me. My roommate never around during weekend. Plus there is no decent hawker center near by my place. So i never stay at home during weekend. I get out of my apartment before lunch and back after dinner. Every single weekend since i came here. Not even once i was at home for the weekend.

A nice lunch and dinner are the two most important things for me during weekend. During work days i eat very simple food and very repetitive because i don't have much choices at my workplace. Sometimes i eat until i don't feel like eating anymore. That's why...

After that anything in between will be alright. The most common thing i will do in between this lunch and dinner time will most probably be movie. On average, i watched at least 1 movie per week and i never spent my weekend without watching a movie ever since i came here. I spent big part of my time (and money) shopping too. I bought many stuffs. Stuffs like shoes, wallet, pants, jeans, socks, t-shirt, watch and etc...

The rest of the time i spent visiting new places around Singapore. Esplanade Theater By The Bay being the most i liked. After dinner time there's always free show. Shows like music band performing, dances, some magic stuffs and other entertainment alike...

Now almost everybody is in Singapore. I can actually find more close friends here than in Malaysia. It is really ironic. Why Malaysia allow this to happen? Why can't Malaysia economy is as good as Singapore? If not better.

I always wonder when our leaders will stop fighting each other and really work towards a better tomorrow for our country. I don't even bother to read those news that bear the title with a politicians name on it anymore. I think it is wasting my time. Too much are said and little are done. I wish to see Malaysia is really a Bolehland. Not just a popular slogan for the purpose of... actually i don't know why we always have to say we boleh? why don't we just stop saying we boleh and actually do something to change for better. It's meaningless!

Amid this Merdeka month, it is really sad to see remarks such as "go back China" can actually be heard. And that actually spoken to a third generation Malaysian. What does this imply? That the person is never a Malaysian? We are sick and immature. The PM said there is zero tolerance for racist remarks but little have done to deter this to happen. Otherwise we would not have to go through this kind of situation. There are too many rules differentiate the people of Malaysia. If there is no such rules, then everybody will be the same. We should be the same regardless of our skin tone.

I will come home one day and help Malaysia to grow (i hope i able to). And when i'm back, i hope i feel welcomed. All the best Malaysia!

Received confirmation letter last week. Got a pay raise! It's a good news right? Already start wondering when is the next pay raise? Hope it won't be long. Haha...

Guess what is the next thing i have in mind? I want to buy house! Recently i always feel that a nice big comfy house is the best one could ever get. I got attracted by those properties magazine. It is just too beautiful to ignore. The furniture, lighting, garden, big LCD tv, home theater system, and so on... and a big comfy sofa... gosh i want to lie down on my imaginary sofa!!

This is the first time i come back Malaysia after i went to Singapore for work. I'm taking leave from 5th to 7th August. 8th is Sunday and 9th is Singapore National Day, which means public holiday. Resume work at 10th of August. A total 5 days off work. NICE!!

6th August 2010, 3.30pm was my convocation. I think this was the first time my family ever taken a family photo together with all 5 members of my family. Actually we do have a family photo but only 4 members, that was before my 7 years younger-than-me brother was born. After that we never have any photo taken with all of us together. So these are PRECIOUS!!

Tomorrow company driver is not available for me. It means i have to take public transport to get to work.

Gosh... have to wake up an hour earlier.

Well... never mind.

Sometimes as i sit in the bus, looking at the streets, the sceneries, the vehicles passing by, the pedestrians and many other tiny details, i feel calmed while being in a state of thoughtlessness. Just thinking about nothing at all for the whole journey.

Not only during my way back and forth between my place of stay and company. I also spend quite a lot of time traveling by boat everyday. Departing from my company's yard to job site, which takes about 40 minutes.

Everyday... just like that. About 3 hours plus minus.

Just like that... traveling from one place to another.

It's 6.26am now. I woke up about half an hour ago. Not by alarm or anything but somehow i just woke up.

I have to get out of my house before 7.15am. As usual, to work. Sunday is coming. The only work-free day. Yesterday one of my colleagues resigned. She found another job with a better-suit-her scope of work. She was firmed with her decision although her superior trying to woo her to stay.

When i heard the news from her, i feel surprised but i have to agree with her decision. When you find that your current job no longer satisfy you then you should start looking for another one and move on. She not yet pass her probation period though, that's good for her because she has got herself another job and she only needs to give notification one week before the day of resignation.

As for me i find my job relevant to my interests and final goals, at least it still does. I'm researching on courses that will enhance my value to employer. I am planning on asking my company to support me once i found the right courses. I find companies here are quite willing to send their employees to courses. I already have few courses pending to attend which were requests or should i say instructions from my company, not that i asked for that. I am looking forward to it though.

Some of my friends lamented about their jobs and future and i find it quite annoying. I just thought i feel like there is not much freedom for me to choose and i am quite contended with what i have now but they are complaining about their jobs which i think they got a pretty good company and job scope. Perhaps they have their reasons but somehow i just feel annoyed listen to it.

Scenes I See Everyday Part 1

Well... I have been working for more than a month now. Few know what i'm doing. I will take this chance to share with you all.

My company's projects are mainly on marine piling, which means building foundation for structure constructed off shore. That includes wharves, jetties, terminals, bridges and so on. The project i'm involving in is a Liquid Natural Gas Terminal (LNG Terminal). A Terminal where oil tanker and LNG Ship will be mooring at.

Currently, it is in the Marine Soil Investigation (SI) stage. Basically it is similar to the one perform on land but the only difference is it's on sea that's all. In order to do this Marine SI, a jack up barge is needed.

Everyday i travel from my company shipyard to my site at Jurong Island South West. It took around 35 minutes to reach. So i got plenty of time to take some nice pictures along the way.

Singapore MRT

Recently the government of Malaysia announced the plan to build a new MRT to boost the country's public transport usage from 18% in 2009 to 40% by 2020. Total budget would cost up to RM 50 billion.

If this really materialized, and everything really goes as planned, it certainly makes travelling in KL much more pleasant. Hopefully, something is done on the public bus as well. Integrating this two major transportation system. Then i could proudly say my country has a comprehensive transportation system, at least in KL.

However, that is not what i really want share with you right now, but instead, the Singapore MRT. I live in Pasir Panjang now which has no MRT station nearby but in a year or two perhaps, there would be one as i already see there are construction going on at my place. You see the difference in between Malaysia's and Singapore's, is that the latter is always improving, solve the problem before it arising.

I came across this so called Future Singapore MRT lines from one of my friend's blog writing his experience traveling to Singapore. Although i'm not sure it is from a reliable sources or not, i believe it will be materialized, somehow or rather.

The line is being extended from time to time and more stations are constantly added to the existing line. They wait for no body but instead, planned, prepared and wait for the needs and demand to come. If only Malaysia is as prepared as Singapore.

R'ber YeeWai was calling me, that i mentioned in my last post? We went for a drink and chatted for a while. It was in Jurong East Interchange. There's also a Popular Book Store there which also sell music CDs. Apparently there was this promotion buy 3 for $10.

I'm writting this in library. Connected using Wireless@SG free wireless internet. I think from now on i will be hanging out here more n more often. To skip the traffic crawl, to enjoy the air-conditioned environment, also quiet and comfort, and most importantly laze on a very soft sofa. It is just nice!

I got a colleague who joined my company a week later than i am. Also, a site engineer. He actually wanted to resign after one week with the company but eventually being advised by a senior colleague to stay and see more for himself before he make any decision. Simply because he realised he could fall into the sea anytime and he doesn't know how to swim.

My job salary isn't high but i got an ok accomodation, three quarter to-and-fro transportation for work, handphone allowance, and a new personal laptop. The only bad thing is i am holding a work permit. When i ask they said company will monitor its employee's performance before upgrade them to S/E pass.

And now YeeWai is calling, he asked to yumcha. So... until next time.

24 hours ago my external hard drive spoilt. A mere 3 months life! Total hours in use probably not more than 24 hours. Buffalo!!! You really did GREAT!!

Don't ask me how its life ended. Just tell yourself don't buy Buffalo!! Although it is under warranty, i not sure i will be happy if i get a replacement though in case it couldn't be fixed. Even if it fixable am i gonna get back all the data i stored in it is still a big question.

On the other hand, company finally handed me a laptop, to facilitate my work. It is a HP ProBook 6440b. Besides, i bought a Microsoft Headphone with mic and a wired mouse, also from Microsoft. Both these were shopped at Sin Lin Square, the electronics stuff heaven, like the Low Yat in KL.

Does a new beginning requires the sacrifice of the old stuffs? My photos, videos, songs, documents, installers... all gone! Back to zero. So i can start over? Nice man!!

Nevermind... I'll start over.

Days before work at Singapore

Hello everyone! Tomorrow is my first day working here at Singapore. Just thought wanna give you guys a short update.

I've been staying at NUS hostel for few days now after my medical check up. One thing worth mention here is that the food at their canteen is awesome and cheap too. What i have had here normally won't exceed 3 dollars. There are various kind of food here. Western, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and so on... Wonder why my campus at Nibong Tebal provides such dull choices of food. I thought at least they should make it more tasty.

Connection here is real fast and no unnecessary restriction of website. A lot of big trees and well connected walkway which provide shade when you travel around campus or hostel. Bathroom however is quite small though. Couldn't stretch my hands entirely and it hits the wall constantly when using my towel.

I'm lucky cause i don't have to look for accommodation. Other friends that also coming to Singapore for work have been having hard time finding apartment. A 3+1 usually fetch a rate higher than 2000 SG dollars per month. Hope they could find a suitable one very soon.

Fountain of Wealth Suntec City

I went to Suntec City last night with Feng Ying. Looked around but sadly the Fountain of Wealth is undergoing maintenance until 22nd March. We went to check out some laptops instead. Wanted to get one so badly. According to HR of my company, probably they will provide me a laptop depending on my job scope, which i yet to know. However i was told not to change/install anything in the laptop. So i guess it is kind of a restriction that will bothers me, which means probably i will get myself one no matter the company gives me one or not.

The first 2 weeks i will be placed at head office for some orientation and training. Then later i will be notified of which site to go to. According to them, there's a new project commencing at Vietnam next month. I hope i will be asked to go because it will be an another brand new experience for me. I will be offered another contract with oversea's allowance if i'm in. It is kind of two birds in one stone for me. But still, nothing is confirmed. So... will see.

As i grow older, family become more and more important to me. When i gave it a deeper thought, family is actually all that matters at the end of the day.

Father retired, used to be a self-employed lorry driver. Mother currently working as a bread stall helper in local market, earning Rm 20 per day. My family has been living frugally since forever ago.

Growing up has been a challenge for me. Well... challenge in terms of overcoming my desire especially when i was still a kid. The kids next door always have better toys than mine. Whatever things that i wanted to own, i have to figure out a way to own it myself. The conventional way, getting money from parents just don't work well for me.

This situation has shaped me to become independent, ambitious and determined. I don't allow much space for myself to fail. I have high expectations. Sometimes i became ruthless especially to my parents. Eventually they get used to it and stop trying to prevent me from doing anything anymore. Because i just won't listen to them. I do what i feel right.

They don't believe the situation will change very much even after i grow up. Although i tried to convince them that i will change this. They lived poor far too long to be able to dream again. They always feel miniature, inferior, insecure and no expectation.

This really have to change!

One day i want them to feel only the feelings of satisfied, happy, and proud. Stop telling me to be contented! I have had enough of it.

My rating for this would be 3.5/5. Just a personal judgement though. I feel that's no big surprise watching it... then nothing much that will grab your emotion... but overall speaking it was quite entertaining.

Toy Story 1 & 2 Double Feature

It is the same old Toy Story 1 & 2 you used to watch years back but in a continuous 3 hours 11 minutes 3D version. Actually if you ask me, whether it is worth watching, i think it depends on you really. For me when i try to remember the scenes and the storyline, i couldn't recall any. So i guess i want to watch it. :)

This one actually serve as a refresher and prepare you to watch the new Toy Story 3 due to on air this summer, some time around mid of june.

I bought a buffalo today!

You know i am not a big fan of laptop. The only thing it is attractive to me was size. I am using desktop all this while, but now i am going to SG soon. So today, quite impulsively, i bought a Buffalo 500GB Portable Hard Drive.

Instead of a laptop, i bought an external hard drive. Reason? Simple, i don't have enough money to buy myself laptop yet. Lolzz... So i will squeeze whatever i may need, videos, songs and installers in it and bring it to SG. Then later some time i will get a laptop there. :)

I tested its speed by copying a 700MB video file into it for a few times, it took 43 seconds on average. Fast or slow? I don't know... Believe it or not, this was the first time i bought an external hard drive. :D

I think it is time to change. If you are one of those that follow my blog you should know what i'm talking about. Erm... cause i don't want to cause any more discomfort. Either to myself or any other person.

Perhaps inferiority complex strikes again. I could have been ignored what they said about it. Ya. It was a "they". Considering the number of people talking about it, i think i was wrong. So i have to change. Some say it is just a unique peculiar habit of mine, that there is no need to change anything, and that i can just do it the way i wanted it to be. Some actually complained, and explained how it affects them, and to the extent of not caring how i was going to judge them. Perhaps the mistake was so immense that they willing to risk anything just to get their voices heard.

It is better this way. I really think so. I really wants to feel better about myself. I don't want to hurt anyone or to get hurt. It is the very last thing that i wanted to do.

I got off the bus that i have traveled in for 7.5 hours and i got in one of this taxi below... I mean... Wow!! I think this was the nicest taxi i have ever got on... It was very comfortable inside... and what's best was the driver... He was a middle aged male with a beard... and was very friendly indeed... chatted with me the whole journey from Jurong's stop to NUS's Prince George's Park Residences... it costs me 7SGD...

I was like OMG!! How they managed to make a business out of it...? Considering how much the car itself costs... how much they will charged their passengers...? Although it is not as many as the ordinary ones in the street but it is not so rare either... you could spot one of those quite frequently if you are in city centre... There were really demands for that...? Or the fare are just reasonable...? But if reasonable... back to the first question... how they make money...? Haha!! I don't know... perhaps i should try one this when i got a chance...

Well... This thing could be used for buses and MRT trains... no surprise... but it was its system that got me impressed... Everytime you get on a bus... you tap for the first time it is consider a "new ride"... later you get off the bus and you tap again and it would charge you according to how far you have traveled... e.g. 1SGD... If your final destination requires you to change to other bus or MRT... provided you use the card within 30 minutes... you get in and tap again... this time "transfer" would appear... and you will only be charged a few cents extra... It help you saves... the system actually recognize your cards and it connects through out the whole Singapore...
I was on a bus with my friends... what surprised me at first was the driver was a middle aged local Chinese woman(i guess) who speaks very fluent English... I mean very seldom you will see a woman driving bus right...? Cause you know... it is a big vehicle...

My friends and I were wondering whether we were taking the correct route and thus we decided to ask the driver for further information... then she explained in a very detail way... which we very much appreciated... and once my friend got the hang of it... she still continue explaining... she did seems very sincere and afraid that we might get lost... and finally we got off the bus... and while we are discussing at the bus stop about where should we go... she never drove off and she was waving from her driver's seat trying to signal us the correct direction to go for... haha...!! I mean her service was very commendable...

Suddenly i realised why sometimes i will feel discomfort when i need to ask people for directions... because not all people will give so much assistance to a stranger... and you scare bothering them... but this one... it really changes my perception about seeking assistance... Next time i think i wont be so "paiseh" in seeking assistance especially in SG...
When i am in Malaysia... i will probably be extra careful during the nights... girls are advised to not walking alone in streets... lock your door while you were out... put in some extra locks preferably... all this was due to the fact that the endless criminal acts soaring in our country... snatch thieves being the most popular... helmet gang... burglary during middle of the night... but here at Singapore i bet you will feel otherwise...

Consider this... for two days i was in Singapore... i witnessed two good deeds the people there have done...

first... seeing a lady dropped his cash notes as he walks off the ticket counter... seconds later a person beside who saw it quickly picked up and identified the lady and ran towards the lady to return the cash notes to her(the lady was walking quite fast)...

Second... I was in the bus sitting in close proximity to the driver... and a lady walked right through me with her hand holding a cell phone... she approached the driver and handed him the cell phone and started explaining... apparently she was giving the cell phone left behind by other passenger at her seat to the driver so that in case the passenger came back could find their phone...

I don't think i will witness this kind of incidents back in Malaysia... at least not yet... most would have pocketed the cash notes and taken the cellphone they found with them...

Some of my friends said most probably what i seen was just the surface and i not yet come to the down side of Singapore... Hmm... yea... probably i will see the down side... but then again... I just thought there are so much for us to learn... for ourselves and for our government... we just need to absorb the good that might benefit us...

I've seen some similar clips about high-tech gadgets of the future... Pranav Mistry... A student from MIT in the popular talk shows TED Talks... this video however integrated Singapore with the "sophisticated future" we are going to experience...

My roommate/coursemate, SiongKai, asked me whether i'm going to poker tonight... and i said no... then i continue working on my prestress design assignment... i called GiapHo, assignment groupmate, and he came into my room and we discussed and chatted a while until 4am... he left and i started preparing my FYP presentation... at 6am... i went to bed....

Thursday, 10am

I got on my coursemate, WeiChuang's car... on the way to school... thinking this is it... everything's gonna end real fast... reached seminar room 10 minutes later and sat there listening to other coursemates' presentation... It's my turn then at 12.10pm... i was talking and i know no one knows better than me... except my supervisor... because my topic was relatively new... i know my studies are flawed... but panels were not that good to be able to see it... they were asking super basic questions... and i was very happy to answer them...

Back to room after lunch... checking out my stocks prices... to my surprise Scomi jumped 10%... huge relieved... after months of stagnation... finally it moved... it got even better and closed 20% higher in price compared to yesterday... I couldn't be more joyful... :D

Off to HooiYee's birthday celebration... went to Penang Sri Bahari Road's The Ship steak house... ordered a set dinner and mixed fruit juice, Australian Charbroiled Rib Eye Steak... medium rare... Appetizer started with fresh shrimp cocktail (really opened up the appetite)... followed by fish chowder (taste very good)... and then main course... the steak (can see some blood in it... lolzz...)... and it ended with a scoop of vanila ice-cream with dark chocolate stick (really thought it was a stick (wooden) at first... lolzz...)... I was very full by then... and there comes the birthday cake... Secret Recipe's hazelnut cake... It was very sweet... the night costs me rm103...

I should have explain all this with pictures... but i dun have it with me right now so... haha... nvm...

Arrived at campus... get changed... and went poker at KoonTeik's house... at first i won almost enough to buy me the dinner i just had at The Ship... but after finished at 6am... the amount reduced and only enough to buy me 10 plates of maggi goreng at Riyas... lolzz... It was a very nice game... i wouldn't mind if i lost though... poker to me is more than how much you win or lose... it is the game that i'm after for...

After 6 hours of poker... it was time to fill up the stomach... went dimsum at Nibong Tebal with my poker mates... which also happens to be my coursemates... we chatted a lot about our last 4 years here in this USM Engineering Campus... suddenly today is already the very last day of the very last week of the very last semester... my coursemates suggested me to come for their last class... lolzz... (i'm not supposed to go because i didn't take the subject)... we left at 730am... i took my shower and started sleeping at 8am till 330pm... :D

Recently I've been watching an American drama series... at first I got no idea what glee means at all... just watched it out of boredom... thinking this was just another so so comedy drama... but I promised myself to watch until the end of the first episode (of course the jokes wasn't too sucks otherwise I wouldn't have been continue watching)... which later came the surprise... music element... I thought it was cheer leading at the beginning... now this attracts me...

The Casts of Glee

This is a pretty new production airs at Fox in the United States created by Ryan Murphy... Started running at Fox Channel since 19th May 2009 (a day after my birthday haha!!)... Just so you know...

A glee club is a musical group, historically of male voices but also of girls or mixed voices, which traditionally specializes in the singing of short songs... I was particularly amazed at this one...

It's My Life & These Are My Confessions

Lead Vocal Cory Monteith... named Finn Hudson in the series...

He claims to have had no experience with singing or dancing... However... He is a fairly talented drummer... His audition tape for Glee even featured his drumming talents as he rhythmically drums on glass bottles and containers to demonstrate his musical abilities (wait a minute... i'm a drummer... lolzz!!)

The main female vocalist was excellent too... I was having goosebumps listening to her voice... Lolzz... Her real name is Lea Michele starring as Rachel Berry in the series... apparently she was born at 29th August 1986... younger than me (I always envy of those who succeed in a particular area at a very early stage of their lives)

First of all, i submitted my FYP final draft last Friday... then i stayed until Saturday afternoon... to witness for myself... at least the rehearsal of Battle of the Bands for Litlegras... then i headed home... driving alone back Ipoh... had dinner with parents... then started my first ever journey out of the country...

Singapore was where i went... for a job interview... and lucky enough... i got the job... spent some quality time there with some old friends of mine... CheeKin LeeKent and SiewWei... had a nice day out eating ice cream with XiangPin FengYing and SiewYik... too bad didn't really capture any photo... but have had quite some fun walking around Singapore street and travel around with its comprehensive public transport system... buildings were architecturally pleasant...

But somehow i was not really happy... i mean i emo-ed... wonder why... strong urge for alcohol now... i wanna drink now... if not now... when...?

I'm so thinking about her now... seeing her once in a while... and she never fail to amaze me... i wish i could just stare at her without being labeled as a peeper...

It is very rare such beauty exists... and it is such a confusion to me... sometimes she will give you this angelic feel... sometimes bitchy... sometimes playful... sometimes pure... stunning and breathtaking most of the times...

Admiration is what i feel now... and i'm not afraid of admitting it... that i have this feeling right now... i might forget this feeling very soon... as i don't see her often and this feeling will just come and go... it happens all the time after i have seen her somewhere...

Most probably this is not love... but i know the fact that i like seeing her...

I would say it is not a perfect one... but yet i'm more than satisfied... simply because we have a perfect spirit... the LitleGras spirit... that i have witnessed it myself that night... for the first time in my days at LitleGras... i saw so many people working so enthusiastically trying to make it the best concert ever...

This year concert theme song depict perfectly what is a LitleGrassian... We don't have award winning singer... but our vocalists are the best in this campus... and they keep learning and growing... Currently we don't have LGM members who already know how to play bass guitar the moment they were admitted into this university campus... bassist is super-rare... So as drummer... a few joined LitleGras with very minimum skills in drumming and most of them none at all... Even guitarists also... newly joined/1st year members are mostly beginners... But we got many keyboardists... or should i say pianist...? They not really know how to play in the band... Most are at their best when playing solo... reading sheet...

Despite all the limitations... we never give up... we tried our best to make our concert every year... but still we always get complained by some "Pros" around this campus or god knows where and who it is in the forum... saying that this song no good and what particular thing was disappointing and stuff... This year concert was the best i have had since i was here... although this X concert was not a perfect one but i seriously love it and amazed at how we LitleGras members grew from nothing to something... i mean look at the members... look at how they grow... did you look at all those drummers performing in X concert...? 90% of them learn their drumming here... how amazing was that...? Not to mention other instrumentalists... and most of us were composing songs for the first time... if you think back again at what i have said just now about LGM members... it is pretty amazing...

So i really got nothing to complain except a reminder to all LGM members... that we shall continue growing no matter what others have said to us... we should take negative comments as ways for improvement and positive comments as soul boosters... as long as the LitleGras spirit is there... we will never die... we will be the best some day some how... always remember our vision and missions... Long Live LitleGras...

I'm very thankful concert this year turned out to be so amazing... performance wise... it is the best in years... Emcees were also the best in years... Event flow was also the best in years... and there are also some mistakes that it is so clearly see because we have so little errors left that we could have observed...

Thanks making my final concert a so great one... I love you LGM members... and i hope concert after Xth will only be better... I also hope that EMT and BM will get even closer than we already are... hope to see the moment when all LitleGras members will work and enjoy your days at LGM and that you will love each other like a family...

Came across this band when i was searching on Youtube on Malaysian Band... then this PinkNoise caught my attention... all Girls Band...

Vocalist and guitarists are so so only... but drummer is quite impressive... and hot too... lolzz... It's not that i'm overwhelmed by their performance or skills but i rather quite appreciate their presence in our local musical industry... this will help promote and nurture more musical talents in Malaysia... is a good thing...

The fact that they are all girls aged only between 16 and 17 is the main selling point... i particularly attracted to the drummer... not because i'm a drummer myself but because she got real good skills considering she's a girl... which is rare... by the way her name is Rachel... lolzz...

Overall speaking... if they wish to go further they really need to improve their musical skills... particularly in song composing... and performance wise some gimmick would be good... more showmanship... it is even better if they got skills that can complement... Who doesn't use Facebook today...? It is kind of no-brainers just to even think of it... No one can resist this trend... social medium like Facebook will eventually became an indispensable part of one's life... if you are not using now... i'm sure one day you will...

Looking at today The Star Online news... "Najib a big hit on Facebook"... This even further confirmed my statement above... Apparently even the PM now has a fans page and he also TWEETS with his fans... i must say our PM is quite a contemporary... and it is a good thing... not that i'm trying to mock him...

Facebook nowadays is more than just a platform for individuals to stay connected to each other... due to its immensely huge network... 350million users and increasing... it is now becoming a business ground for entrepreneurs and big companies... AirAsia for example... uses its fans page to stay connected and informed them with the latest happenings and products of AirAsia... and there's lot more other than AirAsia...

Though the initial intention of Mark Zuckerberg was just to use it as a web page showing Harvard college's hot babes... with headshot photos for people to vote and rate them to provide rankings... now Facebook is way more than that... and now he is damn rich with net worth of US dollar 2 billions... as you can see... great things can come from a thing that initially many thought it might not be good...

In this information rich era... one can benefit a lot from the internet... and if one fail to realise that then he/she will be left behind... pornographic materials are easily available nowadays... blocking such websites wouldn't help... so personally i don't care if all the porn websites are blocked or not... but please not other websites... especially business related... stocks... real estate and brokerage... and perhaps some other websites that i don't know it is blocked... USM conferred as APEX University means nothing... if all the management staffs failed to realise that we are now in the information age... not industrial age... information is money...

No more FortiGuard Please...

Concerning this... i would like to urge the PPKT of USM engineering campus... unblock all the websites and give me freedom to surf the internet... especially facebook and blogspot... is time to change my dear university authorities... please think in a larger perspective...

By the way... Mark Zuckerberg was only 25 at the moment when this was written...

Left 3 weeks before another new semester starts... which is also the very last one... the following days should be quite busy... and perhaps meaningful to me because it is the last time i will be performing for Litlegras Annual Concert... hope that it could be special and successful...

FYP dateline is getting closer and yet i not really got the mood to get it done... later it will converge together with the song practices and i will be darn busy then...

Then CNY is coming again... and so is the day of graduation... which means have to start job hunting... but i'm still thinking on my choices... to work in engineering field or not...

FYI... i just back from Genting Highlands... Yik's friends are amazingly friendly and i felt like i have known them for ages although i actually met them once... for a long time i never get to feel "依依不舍"... i must admit i have a little of that feeling before i separated with them and proceed to join Neo for 1 night in KL...

Being a passionate drummer myself... i have always wanted to be a professional drummer... the least i hope for is i able to perform on a part time basis... drumming boost my confidence... it defines me...

Going back home has given me a decent time to think and summarize about my life for the past few months... Many things has happened... many of them are totally unexpected...

However... it is quite amazing... and perhaps dramatic... Life is full of unknowns and uncertainties even though you think you have been pretty much prepared for it... it still will surprise you...

Today i have had a nice conversation with a friend... what we have talked about is totally ambitious and huge... now all that left to do is focus and discipline... you never know what you able to achieve... that's what make life so interesting...

有人说，当你真正爱上一个人的时候，你最期望的，就是希望她快乐。看到她快乐，你就会快乐了...

我曾经怀疑过这个看法，难道真的有人能够做到吗？假设她拒绝了你，你还会快乐吗？

想想看，如果她勉强跟你在一起，她当然不会觉得快乐。这样的话，为了要避免她不快乐，那你就得接受事实，让她做她想做的事。

以前的我无法理解，觉得被拒绝肯定是很伤心的。

现在事情发生在我身上了，奇怪的是，我好像懂得她并不喜欢我。过后当我得到一个肯定的答案了，我也没怎么特别的难过。好像已经心里准备好了似的，很快就正常起来了。而且还有一种打从心底祝福她快乐的感觉。

这感觉来得很自然。好神奇哦...

过后因为我有少许想改变自己的念头，我开始释放自己，想变得开心一点，想做什么就做什么。再也没有那么考虑人家对我的看法，不要再有Inferiority Complex 的特征，要乐观，要快乐。

过后她感受到了。她向我道歉，她说她很对不起我，问我还好吗？觉得我好像受不了刺激变了另外一个人似的。而我也跟她解释了，但是不晓得她相不相信...

虽然偶尔还会想着她，但是其实我真的没什么了...

现在的我，只期望她不要再过意不去，她并没有做错了些什么。我还想跟她谈天，还想当她的朋友。

希望她好好珍惜她的生活，快快乐乐地度过每一天。

The End of The "Thoughts of a LGM Drummer"

After all that has happened... it is time to put an end for it...

As effective of this date of the post... i will resign as the chief of drummers... and i will also stop performing and teaching... this marks the end of my journey in LitleGras Music...

This is really hard for me... but guess there's no choice...

Fellow drummers... sorry because i left you guys with all the responsibilities... now you all have to teach more frequently since i won't be there to teach anymore... the most difficult thing for me to let go is you all... apparently teaching has been the large part of the time i spent here in LitleGras... I'm very proud to have seen you guys grow from nothing till became a prominent drummer for LitleGras... It is really amazing... having u all is like having many children... KokChoy, Arthur, KokYou, YeiHan, EngChang, PengKer, KahChun, HuiMin, and HuiYien... seeing you all developed and keep improving is really of great satisfaction... I feel very lucky to have able to share my drumming experience with you guys... keep drumming though...

Forgive me on anything that i have done wrong... Really sorry to cause you all the troubles... Perhaps LitleGras will be a better club without my presence...

I will become an ordinary university student and will be sitting on audience seat and enjoy the concert you all bring to this USM Engineering Campus... Guess that is not a bad experience either...

最近，很少去想小草颂的事情了。开始觉得没有必要了。觉得不值得了。有点想离开小草颂的感觉了。

小草颂的每个小草们对我的印象，似乎都只是环绕着音乐和小草颂而已。我很想让大家更了解我。但是，我不懂应该从那儿开始。

曾经问过威勇，如果给五个字你形容我，那会是什么字呢？

他说 : “ambitious, hardworking, inferiority complex, quiet, mysterious”

他说他不曾看过我开怀大笑。那倒是说得很对。跟他玩音乐这样久了，他都不曾看过。那么对一些学弟学妹们，那更不用说了。我是个超闷的人！

可能是我没给机会你们更了解我。因为我都很少开口说起其它的话题。可能是我不懂得说笑话。可能我的笑话并不好笑，根本吸引不了你们。可能我的声音太沉闷了。可能因为我的表情太死板了。

我尝试靠近你们，说说你们类型的笑话。不知道为什么，就是没什么好笑。都是一些弄巧成拙的反效果。有够白痴！

其实我只想有一些人，能够在我没有谈到与小草颂有关的事情时候，也都能够专心听我说话。

How great LitleGras would be that you ever possibly imagined...?

Imagine of the day where LitleGras performing on stage here and there outside of campus... where organisations pay us to perform for public events in public places... where crowd is cheering and screaming our names the loudest they could... we dressed ourselves attractively... our performance is flawless... with superb performing skills... confident... flamboyant... conspicuously exuberant... just like any other famous bands are performing... and we even have our own girls bands that are gorgeous yet skillful...

Our concert tickets are expensive... but still attracting bunch of people who are desperately craving for our shows... Our songs are authentically from our own composers... and we actually selling our songs to the local music industry... but then we are reconsidering the fact that we were selling our songs thinking that it might be better that we keep it for our own and make an album out of it... and then tv and radio stations' reporter are doing coverage on our latest happenings and they also broadcasting our MTV and songs every now and then...

LitleGras Music Club by then it is much more than just a music club... it develops skillful musicians... grooming vocalists... producing great composers... that actually going into the musical industry rather than getting a job as engineers... besides... we having the best personnel in terms of organizing concert events... and people are actually paying our event management team to organize concert events for them... we provide services such as emceeing... PA system... visual aids... interior decor... photography & videography... advertising & event publicist too... and we all have our own performing equipments of cause... is not because we buying each and everyone of them... but rather is the sponsorships from musical instrument manufacturers... as a way to advertise their brands...

Our LitleGras's members ranging from those who have graduated... postgraduates... and undergraduates... some graduated members are actually becoming our full time advisors and devoted their lifetime for the betterment of LitleGras though they are some only involved with LitleGras in a part time basis... they also earn great money just by helping us coordinate all the performance events with the event organizer... pretty much like a manager for our band who deal with every other thing rather than performing... we basically commercialised...

For postgraduates and undergraduates they strive in both academic and LitleGras... they managed to handle it pretty well because we got a system that enable everyone to work with minimum supervision... everyone know what to do at any period of time... well coordinated... our total student member is only about 100 people inclusive of both band musicians and event management team members... but still we managed to deal with every events & performance almost perfectly...

There are few things i very much glad that is happening to LitleGras and its members...

1. Enthusiasm

I appreciate those who show positive attitude towards change we want to implement... I like people who willing to step up and take charge of important events... I like people who think a lot about LitleGras... I like people who are supportive... and i very much appreciate it... I'm happy to see that guitarist department has its lesson guidebook produced... and keyboardist department is actually starting lessons for its department's members... vocalist department has its activities for vocalist outlined... IEC department is carrying out its first ever important activity of the year LitleGras Annual Camp...

2. Growing number of club members

Recently we recruited huge number of band musicians and event management team members from first year and second year students... this would certainly help when we want to organize events... however... this won't be sustainable if we didn't manage our people properly... so we must remember that everyone of us need to put in substantial amount of effort to either directly or indirectly retain our people who have great expertise in various areas which are very much helpful to us... existing/old members need to be supportive to those new members that show great enthusiasm... sometimes people stay because they got friends around... and of cause we must have other formal means to attract people and make people wanna stay with us...

3. Better Performance
We know we have done quite badly(or perhaps just average if not bad) for our last annual concert. From the beginning of the semester we have been discussing about our showmanship... seriousness towards preparation of performance and so on as a step for better performance... and honestly speaking of which the HuaXie Night is one of the best show we have ever had in ages... thanks for the effort of band musicians... but do not get easy on it... we have to strive for any other coming performance events... improve your skills musicians...

Although we yet to see any significant results from our changes so far... but i'm sure we will be able to achieve the results we have been waited for so long someday somehow provided we continue to work towards our goals...

Once a LitleGras member... Forever a LitleGras member... :D

Because of this STUPID RECKLESS Proton Wira Aeroback Driver!!!

The road is wet... and i was driving back from my survey trip for the first ever LitleGras camp along with Fabien... and this was what i got myself into...

It happened around 6.35pm at the two-lane converged to one-lane road just before the bridge crossing the river at Nibong Tebal... the traffic was crawling and i totally have no idea how this Indian dude behind me managed to bang me that hard... And when he came out of the car i showed my bewildered face at him... and he said " You break what... "... duh... of coz i break... what do you expect me to do when the car infront of me stopped?

Then the girlfriend got out of the car too... now i know why... he was busy flirting with his girlfriend and forgot to look at the front because she was simply too attractive for him to turn his sight away... we not even heard any sound of tyre skidding... i assumed he never break and he never know he's going to hit me until he did... the force was actually strong enough to push my car going forward which is about 1 metre infront of me and transfer the momentum to the Perodua Viva and then it banged another car infront of it... 4 cars are affected... but the 4th car suffer no damage... and the Viva damaged both its rear and front bumper but the Viva owner was just too busy to wait and settle the conflict at Balai... and his car was not seriously injured so two cars infront of me eventually drove off...

Me and the Indian Dude ended up in Jawi Traffic Police Station... stayed there for accident reporting until around 10pm... and the police officer actually said to me that there are 4 cases happened today similar to my situations (multi-car collisions) at the same area... and he told me never drive when there's rain and traffic crawl near the bridge area... he said you would rather stop there and wait or U-turn or whatever rather than spending hours with me for your reporting to claim insurance... could you believe the police officer actually said that...?

Really sorry for what happening to the car... I wont be this mad if the car was mine... it was liong's... really sorry to cause so much trouble to him... Very Sorry...

And now i guess many Grassmates and Coursemates already knew i got into accident... people would think i'm a lousy driver i guess... maybe now there's somebody whispering... " Never lend your car to HockSiang... "

Is it bad? Is it not?

I constantly throwing out ideas. Drowning all the people along the way as the ideas propagate... I know sometimes it is just too much... but i just couldn't help it... it is my nature...

I have dreams... Dreams for LitleGras... Perhaps all this was caused by my feelings of inferiority towards the other famous bands out there... I just wanted this band to be better so much...

As i dragging you into the journey to attain my dreams for LitleGras... I hope you would forgive me if this is not really what you wanted to achieve...
